The upcoming adaptation of Steve Alten’s MEG has brought in a new addition in the form of Cliff Curtis.

Deadline is reporting that the Fear the Walking Dead star will be playing the Operations Chief for the Mana One.

The current word on the MEG adap is that it will focus on an international underwater program that comes under threat from an ominous and mysterious danger. Unfortunately for the workers based on this facility, they will be stranded at the bottom of the ocean and with a dangerous predator waiting to pounce. Jason Statham will portray a former naval captain who is tasked with rescuing those in danger before it’s too late.

In case you’re not familiar with MEG, Steve Alten’s MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror was released in 1997 and has spawned several follow-ups, with the action focussing on the 80-foot megalodon and the tale often described as “Jurassic Park with a shark” as the California coast is terrorized by this ancient threat.

Cliff Curtis joins a cast that currently includes Statham, Fan Bingbing, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson and Jessica McNamee.

To be directed by John Turtletaub, MEG is currently set for a March 2nd, 2018 release.
