Fady Elsayed, one of the stars of new Doctor Who spin-off Class, and Tom Hopper, best known for playing Billy Bones in hit pirate drama Black Sails, are the latest special guests to be announced for MCM Midlands Comic Con, which comes to Telford on February 11th.

Elsayed and Hopper join a guest list that includes Chris Barrie, who plays Arnold J. Rimmer in classic sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf; Ian McElhinney, who plays noble knight Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones and Rebel General Dodonna in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story; and Sean Kelly, the fast-talking host of TV auction show Storage Hunters.

Set in the fictional Coal Hill Academy, Class is a critically-acclaimed new Doctor Who spin-off that shines a light on a whole new corner of the Doctor’s world. Fady’s character Ram Singh is the Coal Hill heartthrob and he knows it – so he’s reluctant to ruin his street cred by hanging out with the geeks in Miss Quill’s class. But when creepy aliens threaten the lives of his classmates and the very future of humanity is at stake, talented footballer Ram finds it impossible to stay on the side-lines.

Buccaneering Starz series Black Sails sees Leicestershire-born Tom Hopper star as Billy Bones, once the boatswain on Captain Flint’s ship Walrus and now the leader of the pirate resistance on Nassau. Smart, charismatic and fearless in a fight, Billy is famed among the pirates for his honesty and loyalty. Tom is also well known for playing Sir Percival in much-missed fantasy show Merlin – a gentle giant whose bravery prompts Arthur to make him a knight of Camelot despite his lack of noble birth.

Other attractions at MCM Midlands Comic Con include a Comic Village packed with talented comic book artists, writers and publishers; an eSports area featuring a Street Fighter V tournament; a KidsZone with face painting and lightsaber training for your lil’ Jedi; a Cosplay Masquerade showcasing the skills of the wonderful local cosplay community and, of course, a host of exciting exhibitors and retailers.
