It seems that every
few months the stories of Akira getting the Hollywood treatment rear their
heads. So with that said, it’s that time again…

Now the last we’d heard was that Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian
Way was looking to produce a live-action adaptation of the famed Akira, with Sons of Anarchy’s Marco J. Ramirez on board to pen the script. In
an interesting twist, it’s now being reported by Den
of Geek
that Christopher Nolan could be about to get involved.

The director is believed to have already had a meeting with
some of the other names who were previously attached to Akira, and there’s now speculation that Akira could indeed be the top secret movie that Nolan is looking to helm
for a release in July 2017. On the flip side of that, though, there is talk
that he could maybe just be involved in a production capacity.

Additionally, a new rumour doing the rounds is that Warner
Brothers could now be looking at a trilogy
of Akira films rather than just
the initially-planned one.

Expect more on this as and when it develops.
