After Chris Pratt wowed audiences with his turn as Peter Quill in this summer’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, it appears that the actor is about to headline another comic book movie. Collider is reporting that Pratt is on board to star in Universal’s adaptation of COWBOY NINJA VIKING.

The source material itself was created by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo, first released back in 2009. Story-wise, the tale centres on a schizophrenic assassin who possesses the abilities of, you guessed it, a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.

A movie adaptation of COWBOY NINJA VIKING has been in the works for a little while now, with Disney initially picking up the rights to the property and getting ZOMBIELAND’s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese to pen a script. That was ultimately dropped, with Universal then picking it up and hiring QUANTUM OF SOLACE’s Marc Forster to direct. Forster is no longer working on the film, although Mark Gordon is on board as a producer.

With JURASSIC WORLD and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 in his future, the boy Pratt is certainly a Star (Lord) on the rise.

Expect more on this as it develops.
