With his days as
Captain America at one point seemingly numbered, Chris Evans has revealed that
he’s more than open to extending his contract to play the MCU’s Sentinel of
Liberty.

Despite initially not being keen to take the gig, Evans
signed on for six films as Steve Rogers (which doesn’t include his uber-brief Thor: The Dark World cameo). Read into
this what you will, but at the moment Evans’ last film is set to be The Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2.

On the topic of possibly returning for more MCU outings,
Evans told Collider,
“If
Marvel wants me they got me. I’ve never had such a relationship where you have
such – I mean, look at my resume. I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is
this movie gonna be terrible?’ Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they
do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and
scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor.”

Reflecting on nearly turning down the gig initially, Evans
added, “It’s so mind-boggling that I was so tentative in the beginning to jump
on board. What an asshole I would be if I hadn’t done this. I mean, can you
imagine? Kicking myself – I’d never forgive myself.”

Evans’ Cap will return next year for Anthony and Joe Russo’s
Captain America: Civil War, which
hits screens on May 6th.
