Having most recently been involved in writing Matt Reeves’ The Batman for Warner Bros., Mattson Tomlin is to head to the realm of sci-fi to make his directorial bow.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Tomlin’s directing debut will see him tackle a sci-fi thriller titled Mother/Android. Already, Kick-Ass and Suspiria favourite Chloe Grace Mortez is on board to headline the picture, with the aforementioned Reeves serving as a producer on the film.

The early word on Mother/Android reads:

Moretz is set to star as Georgia who, with her boyfriend Sam, goes on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land – a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.

Tomlin himself has commented on how this is a deeply personal story for him and a tale “inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world”.

As ever, expect more on Mattson Tomlin’s Mother/Android as we get it.
