This morning brings word that INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 is in the process of adding Charlotte Gainsbourg to its ranks. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the actress is currently in advanced talks to join Roland Emmerich’s sequel.

Gainsbourg is best known for her works in the likes of ANTI-CHRIST, THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP and NYMPHOMANIAC. If she does indeed sign on for the movie, she’ll join a cast that currently includes Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Jeff Goldblum, and likely Bill Pullman.

The sequel to Emmerich’s 1996 extravaganza is currently set for a June 24th, 2016 release.
