Following the news earlier this month that Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams have been confirmed for Josh Boone’s New Mutants, now comes word that Charlie Heaton has joined the picture.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the Stranger Things actor has signed on to play Cannonball in the movie – a role that was initially lined up for Nat Wolff before scheduling conflicts got in the way. As for Cannonball as a character, he’s a frenetic mutant with the ability to fly at a superfast speed whilst encased in a forcefield.

In addition to this, the outlet reiterates the recent story that Rosario Dawson is in talks for a role in the film; a role believed to be that of a mentor for the titular young team. Where The Witch’s Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones’ Williams are concerned, they’re playing Magik and Wolfsbane, respectively.

With filming set to start in July, The New Mutants is currently set for an April 13th, 2018 release.
