Having recently taken the Gambit role in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men world, now comes word that Channing Tatum is in talks to join Quentin Tarantino’s THE HATEFUL EIGHT.

Deadline reports that the role in question is a major one, although no exact details are known at this stage. If he does join QT’s upcoming movie, Tatum will join a cast that includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Plot-wise, THE HATEFUL EIGHT is set after the Civil War, in a snowy Wyoming locale. With the snow causing a group of stagecoach travellers to take up residence in a bar, the situation, which includes a renegade soldier, a female prisoner, and a couple of bounty hunters, becomes heated.

No release date is known for Tarantino’s next effort at this stage, although production on the film is due to commence in December.
