It looks as if 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Gambit movie could be in trouble.

The Wrap is reporting that the signed-on star of the picture, Channing Tatum, is on the verge of exiting the feature. No exact reasoning has been given for this change of heart from Tatum, with the actor even recently involved in carrying out screentests for the film’s female lead. Shooting was due to start in October, but obviously if Tatum does indeed leave Gambit then that throws up some serious questions.

At present, Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rupert Wyatt is on board to direct Gambit, and Tatum still is on board at this time. It’s just being reported that the star now wants out.

Gambit is currently pencilled in for an October 7th, 2016 release, although that could all change at this stage.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
