With Mega Man 11 now officially available, we’ve got word that a Mega Man movie is a ‘go’ again.

The last real news we’d heard on this was over a year ago, when Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman were said to be in talks to write and direct just such a movie. And now, Capcom has moved to finally confirm that the live-action movie is indeed happening and that, yes, Joost and Schulman are indeed the people tasked with developing the picture. The Joost and Schulman tandem are likely best known for the Catfish documentary, Paranormal Activity 3, and Nerve, and now we finally have confirmation of Mega Man.

The beloved Mega Man franchise began back in 1987, and since then the property has gone from strength to strength, spanning over 130 games on varying formats in addition to a vast array of animated movies and series. For those unfamiliar with the Mega Man property, the titular character is an android who has to battle a plethora of villainous androids who have been reprogrammed by the nefarious Dr. Willy. As well as its addictive gameplay, the series is also famous for its musical numbers and ridiculous deep roster of bad guys.

As ever, expect more on the Mega Man movie as it continues to develop.
