With this morning bringing news on which names are being looked at for Scott Summers and Jean Grey in 20th Century Fox’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, now comes word on which names are being considered for the lead roles in Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive JESSICA JONES and LUKE CAGE series.

Deadline is reporting that Marvel has begun testing names for the two key roles of Jessica and Powerman, with casting announcements expected in the not-too-distant future. For Jessica Jones, the ladies in the frame are BREAKING BAD’s Krysten Ritter, WARM BODIES’ Teresa Palmer, TRUE DETECTIVE’s Alexandra Daddario and ARROW’s Jessica De Gouw.

As for Luke Cage, it’s said that the character himself will actually appear in seven of JESSICA JONES’ thirteen episodes before his own show start. Up for the role of Cage are CRISIS’ Lance Gross and HALO: NIGHTFALL’s Mike Colter. Similarly, LUKE CAGE will also be a thirteen-episode series.

The Charlie Cox-starring DAREDEVIL will kick off Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive shows in the new year, with JESSICA JONES following next. As mentioned above, JESSICA JONES will lead to LUKE CAGE, then there’s the small matter of Marvel’s IRON FIST series. The four titular characters of these shows will then come together in a DEFENDERS mini-series.
