One of the most impressive and stylish genre shows of recent years was the criminally-cancelled Hannibal, but maybe, just maybe, there’s a way back for the series. Well, kind of.

Speaking to the Shock Waves podcast, creator Bryan Fuller talked about how he’d like to bring Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal Lecter back in some way, potentially a mini-series. Fuller enthused, “We still hope that something can be worked out where we continue telling Hannibal Lecter stories and see The Silence of the Lambs in a way that the book hasn’t been represented. I think the film adaptation is a perfect film, but there are a lot of interesting nooks and crannies to explore in a television series. I hope we get to tell the story. Ideally for the cast, it would be as a mini-series, here and there. Let’s do six to eight episodes of that, and six to eight episodes over here. And do it as an irregular thing.”

After three seasons, NBC made the decision to cancel Hannibal 18 months ago. Ever since, fans and critics alike have been hoping that we’d somehow see the return of this beloved series in one way or another.

As ever, expect more on this if and when it develops… and let’s hope that something certainly does develop on this one.
