Looking forward to the upcoming Ash vs. Evil Dead show? We certainly are. As is Bruce Campbell, who hopes that the series could lead to more Evil Dead movies down the line.
Bar a brief cameo in Fede Alvarez’s surprisingly good 2013 Evil Dead, the last time we saw Ash on the big screen was in 1993’s Army of Darkness. Sure, there’s been comic books and video games since then, but it’s always more fun when Deadite hordes are being blasted away in a feature-length movie. We’ve got high hopes for Ash vs. Evil Dead, and star Campbell seems more then keen on taking the action to the big screen once more.
Speaking to Latino Review, Campbell said, “It’s not a cop show, a doctor show, or a lawyer show. Those shows make me want to hang myself as a viewer. The series will force us to make more movies. We need eight more movies… making a fourth would work.”
On some of the gore on show in this new series, he added, “I went blind the other day shooting a scene. Take a shower and open your eyes… that’s how much blood there is on the show.”
Additionally, Sam Raimi, director of the original Evil Dead movies and involved in Ash vs. Evil Dead, has previously stated that he’d be open to helming more Evil Dead films so long as Bruce Campbell was signed on to star.
It’s also worth noting, Campbell’s aforementioned cameo at the end of the 2013 Evil Dead is totally, totally unrelated to this new TV show.
Starring Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Jill Marie Jones and Dana De Lorenzo as well as Bruce Campbell, Ash vs. Evil Dead’s ten-episode first season will debut in the US on October 31st. A UK home has yet to be confirmed for the show.
