Emily Owens M.D. and Political Animals actress Brittany Ishibashi has joined the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Deadline is reporting that Ishibashi will be playing Karai in the sequel to last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The character did appear ever so briefly in that film, played by Minae Noji.

For those unfamiliar with Karai, she is one of the leaders of the Foot Clan in comic book lore and even outranks Shredder. In some incarnations of the character over the years, she has actually been portrayed as the adoptive daughter of Shredder as well as at times even helping out the Heroes in a Half-Shell.

Ishibashi joins a cast that currently features Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, William Fichtner as Eric Sacks, Brian Tee as Shredder, Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman, and Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop. It’s also believed that Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek and Noel Fisher will be back as the Turtles themselves.

To be directed by David Green, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently set for a June 3rd, 2016 release.
