Ahead of its impending return, Supergirl has added Brenda Strong as a recurring character.

EW broke the news, with the Desperate Housewives actress to appear throughout the show’s second season. There’s no details on just what Strong’s role will be, although early reports indicate that she’ll make quite the impressive first impression in the season premiere of Season 2.

The official blurb on this new season reads:

Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO, protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

Supergirl returns on October 10th.
