Following reports last month that Benicio Del Toro was in advanced talks for a role in Shane Black’s Predator, now comes an update on that front.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Del Toro is now completely out of the frame for Predator, with the role penciled in for him instead going to Narcos’ Boyd Holbrook. There’s no reason known as to why Del Toro is no longer to be involved, although his schedule is certainly booked up at the moment – as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII, Del Toro will be resurfacing as the The Collector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then there’s the upcoming Sicario sequel, Soldado.

Iron Man 3 helmer Shane Black has written the Predator script with his Monster Squad co-writer, Fred Dekker. Shooting is due to start in February ahead of a February 9th, 2018 release.

No plot details are known on the film at this stage bar that it will take place in the same continuity as the first two Predator movies. Ooh, and a certain Governator has had “lunch” to discuss a return to the franchise, meaning that Arnie’s Dutch may well have a small role in the film.
