Despite her illustrious acting career, ranging from BBC Dickensian adaptations to cameos alongside Steve Coogan, Gillian Anderson is most famous for portraying the sceptical FBI agent Dana Scully in the brilliant and barmy X-FILES.

Having been approached by American publishing house Simon & Schuster, Anderson is set to work alongside comic book big-wig Jeff Rovin on THE EARTHEND SAGA. The first novel, A VISION OF FIRE, concerns a child psychiatrist, specifically children traumatised by war or natural disasters. She, undoubtedly, meets a ‘uniquely troubled’ girl, forming the crux of the narrative. The story unfolds revealing greater forces at work in the universe and vast destruction that must be prevented.

Anderson claims that having lived in Chris Carter’s semi-imagined world of conspiracy, alien activity and horror, she now has ‘an ingrained knowledge and rhythm for it’. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Anderson stated ‘It was very clear to me that I didn’t want to enter into the horror realm. That doesn’t interest me. I also wanted a very strong female character, around my age. I would want to read something like that and I think other women would like to read.’

A VISION OF FIRE is set for an October release, launching a strand of speculative fiction at S&S, named Simon451, a nod to the late Ray Bradbury.
