With the latest Conjuring spinoff The Nun currently bringing together its cast, The Hollywood Reporter has word that Bonnie Aarons will be returning for the film.

As well as starring in Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell, Aarons played the creepy nun who tormented Vera Farmiga’s Elaine Warren in James Wan’s The Conjuring 2. Here, she’ll be reprising that role and will be the titular character of The Nun.

With Taissa Farmiga joining the film earlier this month, it was thought that she was going to be playing the troubled sister at the centre of The Nun, but clearly that isn’t the case. What we do know, however, is that Demian Bichir is playing Father Burke, a priest sent to investigate the mysterious death of a nun. Of course, it may well be that Taissa Farmiga plays the character before whatever sinister happenings happen to her, or Farmiga may well be playing another nun involved in the mystery – which seems more likely.

The Nun, currently set for a July 13th, 2018 release and to be direct by Corin Hardy, will be the fifth film set in the shared world of The Conjuring, following The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, Annabelle and this August’s Annabelle: Creation.
