With FX’s Legion having now debuted, the other live-action mutant-driven show that’s on the way has found its first cast member.

EW is reporting that Satisfaction and Switched at Birth’s Blair Redford is the first name signed up for FOX’s upcoming to-be-titled X-Men-based series. Redford will play Sam, described as “the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network.”

Underground network, you say? Yes, that’s a group that will be central to the narrative of the new series. The show will focus on two regular parents who discover that their children have mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from the government, the family take refuge with an underground network of mutants fighting to survive in this hostile world.

This new series will arrive at a TBC date later this year, and Bryan Singer, who is serving as an executive producer on the show, has been confirmed to direct the pilot episode.
