Last month brought word that the sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic Blade Runner was to start shooting in July, and now the follow-up has been given a confirmed release date.

Alcon Entertainment have revealed that the sequel to 1982’s Blade Runner, which will be distributed by Warner Brothers and Sony Pictures, will hit the big screen on January 12th, 2018.

All that we know about the long-mooted sequel is that Harrison Ford will be back as Rick Deckard and that Ryan Gosling will be joining him in some form. Sicario’s Denis Villeneuve will be directing from a script put together by Michael Green and Hampton Fancher, the co-writer of Scott’s ’82 movie. As for Ridley Scott himself, he’s on board as an executive producer.
