Some great comic book guests have been announced for The Birmingham Comics Festival, taking place in April.

There’s going to be something for all fans as the guest list includes many famous names from several high profile properties. Among the newly-announced names are Dan Abnett, who has written for Marvel (The Punisher, Guardians of the Galaxy), DC (The Legion, Aquaman), and 2000 AD. He has also written many novels for HarperCollins and Games Workshop.
Film and TV storyboard artist John Erasmus, who worked on the upcoming Sky Living show The Five, will also be in attendance. As well as illustrating comics for Dark Horse and Marvel’s Epic imprint, he has contributed scripts for The Dandy, Toxic!, and Brain Damage.
Mark Laming, who has worked on titles in DC’s Vertigo range such as American Century and The Dreaming, as well as Marvel’s The Fantastic Four and Uncanny Avengers, will be on hand to meet fans; all the more exciting since he has begun working on 2000 AD.
Hitman fans will be keen to see John McCrea, as the Irish legend will be attending. Maybe now’s a good time to get his Deadpool work signed?
Also appearing will be Ian Kennedy, a true British comics icon. Older fans will remember his work on Buster, The Hotspur, and Commando fondly.

The Birmingham Comics Festival takes place on Saturday, April 23rd at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium. Tickets are available now from the festival website, and advance booking is recommended as VIP tickets have already sold out.
