Doctor Who fans will be delighted to hear that Billie Piper, who played companion Rose from the first two series of the show’s 2005 relaunch will be attending both MCM Liverpool Comic Con and MCM Birmingham Comic Con this March.

Following a music career that saw her become the youngest artist ever to debut at number one in the UK charts, Billie Piper joined the cast of Doctor Who for the classic sci-fi show’s 2005 re-launch. Starring alongside Christopher Eccleston’s brooding Ninth Doctor, Piper played Rose Tyler – an independent-minded young shop assistant from London who joins the Time Lord for adventures in time and space, but finds herself falling in love with him.

Winning ‘Most Popular Actress’ at the 2005 National Television Awards for her portrayal of Rose, Billie remained at the Doctor’s side after his regeneration into David Tennant’s charismatic Tenth Doctor …once again scooping the NTA’s ‘Most Popular Actress’ award! Piper left Doctor Who after Series 2, although she returned for the finale of Series 4 and also appeared in the sci-fi show’s 50th anniversary episode, ‘The Day of the Doctor’.

Having made a huge impact on Doctor Who – a 2014 Radio Times poll crowned Rose the ‘Companion Champion’, while a 2012 BBC America poll voted her ‘The Greatest Woman of Doctor Who’ – Billie Piper has gone on to appear in numerous film and TV productions. These include starring as Belle in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Fanny Price in ITV’s 2007 adaptation of Mansfield Park and Brona Croft/Lily in acclaimed horror series Penny Dreadful. Piper has also won plaudits for her stage performances, including winning a clutch of awards for her title role in last year’s Young Vic production of Lorca’s Yemma.

MCM Liverpool Comic Con takes place at the Exhibition Centre on March 11th-12th and MCM Birmingham Comic Con is the following weekend March 18th-19th. For tickets, head over to www.mcmexpostore.com.
