As evidenced by our Batman special last year, we’re firmly on the Batfleck train. Despite some naysayers, Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader is looking like a masterstroke. And it looks as if we’re going to be getting a whole lot more of Affleck’s Dark Knight over the next few years.

With Batman set to play a part in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the two-part Justice League, we already know that Affleck will be co-writing, directing and starring in a solo Batman movie, tentatively titled The Batman. Now comes word from Den of Geek that Warner Brothers is so impressed with what they’ve seen from Affleck’s take on the World’s Greatest Detective, they’re already making plans to build their DC Cinematic Universe around him.

After an early screening of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman drew a standing ovation from those present, it was Affleck’s turn as Bats that drew the most praise, with the actor being dubbed the “definitive Batman”. As such, Batman is now expected to be the focus of the DCCU much in the same way that Robert Downey Jr. is often seen as the focal point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, Warners is also now looking at starting work on a trilogy of Batman solo movies.

Conveniently, Affleck’s next two directing efforts, The Accountant and Live By Night, which both happen to be under the WB’s watch, have been pushed back, with many speculating that the shifting of these films is so that more attention can be dedicated to Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight.

Amidst all of this hype, Affleck’s Caped Crusader will make his bow in next March’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice before then appearing in the two Justice League movies. The first solo Bat-flick is currently pencilled in for a 2018 release.
