In some interesting STAR WARS: EPISODE VII news, Badass Digest is claiming to know various details about J.J. Abrams’ upcoming visit to a galaxy far, far away.

Firstly, it’s claimed that the film will open with Luke Skywalker’s severed hand, complete with lightsaber, floating through space. The hand will land on a desert planet, said to not be Tatooine, and will be found by John Boyega and Daisy Ridley’s characters. The two end up seeking out Han Solo and Chewbacca in an effort to find the lightsaber’s rightful owner. From there, Han claims to have not seen Luke for nearly three decades. On a mission to locate Skywalker, the story takes in a new Death Star-type weapon (yes, another one) that has its sights on taking down the whole universe. Additional reports from the outlet claim that Boyega’s character is actually a Stormtrooper who ends up deserting his post in order to focus his attention on the aforementioned mission to find Luke.

It goes without saying, but treat all of this as strictly rumour for now.

With a cast that includes Boyega, Ridley, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christine, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, and Max von Sydow, EPISODE VII is currently set for an 18th December, 2015 release.
