There was a rumour doing the rounds a week or two ago that said Marvel’s THE AVENGERS 3 was actually going to be split up into two different films. Given how the actors likely to be involved in this film have strict contracts with Marvel and Disney in terms of appearances, logic suggested that this wouldn’t be the case. Now comes an alternative spin on this whole idea, courtesy of Badass Digest.

The report claims that THE AVENGERS 3 may not actually feature some of the bigger cinematic names like Chris Evans’ Captain America and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Whilst most of the Marvel contracts in place speculate how many appearances an actor/actress is tied to, only Robert Downey Jr. has a contract that stipulates THE AVENGERS 3 as part of his deal. As a result, this latest rumour claims that THE AVENGERS 3 will have Iron Man at the centre of it, with him teaming with some so-called secondary characters, such as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, both of who will be introduced in the upcoming AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. This third AVENGERS film will then be used as a springboard of sorts into something bigger in four such film, which could then see a whole host of characters from the MCU, including Thor and Cap, brought together in a huge crossover of sorts.

Treat this all as purely rumour for now, but it certainly makes for interesting thinking.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is currently set for an April 24th UK release, with THE AVENGERS 3 waiting for a confirmed release date at this early stage.
