Disney XD has moved to confirm its Big Hero 6 series for a second season – this news coming before the first season has even debuted yet.

On this news, Disney XD’s Marc Buhaj said, “Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favourites Hiro and Baymax. We are honoured to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of Big Hero 6: The Series with this early second season order.”

Mark, Bob and Nick are executive producers Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi, who have been working away on this new series. Following on from the events of 2014’s Big Hero 6 movie, the show will see the majority of that film’s voice cast returning, including Ryan Potter as Hiro, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon, David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff, and Stan “The Man” Lee as Fred’s Dad. Joining these familiar voices are Khary Payton as Wasabi and Brooks Wheelan as Fred.

The first season of Big Hero 6 will debut at a to-be-confirmed date in the second half of this year, with the action following the adventures of 14-year-old Hiro and the superhero team of Big Hero 6.
