Following on from rumours a month or so ago that Benicio Del Toro was being lined up to play the villain in Star Wars: Episode VIII, the actor himself has confirmed he’s had talks for the gig and is confident of appearing in Rian Johnson’s 2017 movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Del Toro teased, “I can’t tell you much about it but I think that it might happen. It looks like it’s gonna happen, so I’m very excited. I can’t talk too much about it. The script is hard to get. They told me they’d cut my finger if I talk about it. I saw the original one when it came out and it marked me. I was impressed by the film and by the characters and by the story and the message.”

At this stage, details on Episode VIII are sketchy at best, with the plot of the film obviously depending on how things play out in J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII – The Force Awakens later this year.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently set for a May 26th, 2017 release.
