EASTENDERS’ Ben Hardy may have missed out on the young Cyclops gig in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, but the actor has gone on to land himself another role in the film. Variety is reporting the news, with the role itself currently being kept under wraps bar murmurings that the character in question is a “significant” one from the Marvel comic book world.

In terms of speculation, the early rumour, and also the obvious suggestion based on Hardy’s appearance, is that he may be playing Warren Worthington III, aka Angel, aka Archangel. The Archangel moniker for the character is a key part in the mythos of Apocalypse, who just so happens to be the villain of the film this time out.

Hardy joins a cast that includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Rose Byrne as Moira McTaggert, Kodi-Smit McPhee as Nightcrawler, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. It’s also presumed that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be back.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is currently set for a May 27th, 2016 release.
