After recent Ben Affleck comments seemed to put some question marks over Warner Brothers’ previously-confirmed solo Batman movie, the actor/writer/director has moved to calm those fears.

If you remember, last week saw Affleck saying that the film, tentatively called The Batman, was “not a set thing and there’s no script,” which had some fans worried that Affleck was getting cold feet about the whole thing. Fear not, for he’s now moved to play down those concerns.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Affleck explained, “I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re working on it. It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because with Live by Night it took me a year-and-a-half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard. It’s just no one gave a shit. No one was like ‘Where’s Live by Night?’ But with Batman, I keep getting the ‘Where’s the fucking Batman?’ I’m like ‘Whoa, I’m working! Give me a second!’”

So, fear not, for Ben Affleck will be writing, starring in, and directing The Batman. DC’s iconic Geoff Johns is working on the screenplay with Affleck, and Joe Manganiello has already been confirmed to be playing the villain of the piece, Deathstroke.

Despite Affleck’s reiteration that he’ll still be doing the movie, the film has yet to be given an official release date at this stage. Previous reports claim that shooting could start as soon as this spring, with a late 2018/early 2019 release date looking likely right now. Before that, Affleck’s Caped Crusader will be a key part of Zack Snyder’s Justice League when that hits screens this November.
