As well as being a master of bringing down the bad guys, Batman is also a thoroughly angry bastard. Whilst we’ve seen various on-screen versions of the Caped Crusader over the years, despite Christian Bale’s growly speeches we’ve still yet to really see a Dark Knight who’s become overrun with rage. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Ben Affleck, set to star as Batman in Warner Brothers’ upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, has been talking about The World’s Greatest Detective’s anger issues.

Asked about relating to Bats’ anger, Affleck said, “I think it’s a necessity, historically, in the tradition of these films. For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I tend to be respectful, polite, get along, put up with, put up with, put with… then, when it finally emerges, it’s not something I have a ton of control over. I’m not gonna go into a Wolverine berserker rage, but I do have a, I do… that is an interesting thing that you point out. That’s my personality. By the way, that’s a character flaw, I think. I should sit down and say, ‘Listen, I just want to let you know what happened there wasn’t OK,’ instead of going, let it go, let it go, let it go… ‘Ah, that’s not a big deal,’ until finally you just pop.”

Given how certain aspects of BATMAN V SUPERMAN are rumoured to be influenced by some of Frank Miller’s iconic Batman moments, could we finally get to see the pissed off, angry, aggressive Dark Knight that many have been crying out for over the years?

Directed by Zack Snyder, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is currently set for a March 25th, 2016 release.
