Much loved and deeply silly British superhero Bananaman is threatening to take on the world through the power of song. Clever comics creators DC Thompson have announced that their parody superhero Bananaman is to be turned into a musical.

You may recall that way back in March 2014 we reported that the Man of Peel was going to have his own motion picture. That seems to have been put to one side whilst they focus on bringing the hero to the stage. The date for auditions has not yet been set.

DC Thomson are better known for the likes of The Dandy and The Beano. Bananaman first appeared in the pages of Nutty comic before eventually flying over to The Dandy to cause havoc. The strip follows the adventures of ordinary schoolboy Eric who lives at 29 Acacia Road. When he eats a banana he transforms into Bananaman, who can fly and has the strength of twenty BIG men. He’s also oblivious to damage, sarcasm and common sense. At the height of his popularity in the mid-‘80s, the character even had his own animated television series, voiced by those infamous specialists of surreal comedy, The Goodies.
