One particular movie we’ve been keeping our eye on for the past little while is Elias’ Ayla. With an impressive cast including the likes of Tristan Risk, Dee Wallace, Bill Oberst Jr., Nicholas Wilder, and Andrew Sensenig, we’ve been patiently waiting to check out this hotly anticipated effort. And now, we’ve got the great news that Ayla is to be made available from this April.

Freestyle Digital Media has acquired the film for distribution in North America, moving swiftly to book Ayla in for an April 3rd VOD and Digital HD release. Given how Ayla has already won several awards at various festivals across the globe, this is news that’s sure to please many a horror hound.

On this news, writer/director Elias enthused, “We’re delighted to have found a home for Ayla with Freestyle Digital Media.”

Additionally, we reached out to the titular Ayla herself, the ever-great Tristan Risk, who added, “Ayla is an exploration between supernatural and existential horror. Nicholas’ performance will sadden your soul.”

In terms of plot, Ayla is officially described as:

Ayla tells the story of a man, Elton, left lost and damaged since he was a young boy by the unexplained death of his 4-year-old sister, Ayla. All throughout adulthood, Elton has mourned the life with her than could have been. Elton’s days and nights are inhabited by a presence of a mysterious woman, and as his obsession with the woman grows, he becomes convinced she’s his sister Ayla, returned now as an adult. Resolving to find her at all costs, Elton plunges further down a rabbit hole forged by his own loneliness and desire, but who or what will emerge?

Here’s hoping a UK release of Ayla follows suit. In the meantime, be sure to check out the chilling trailer below:
