It’s being reported by The Wrap that Ava DuVernay is wanted by Marvel Studios and Disney to helm one of their upcoming MCU efforts.

Having won the plaudits of many for Selma, the director is believed to be under consideration to helm either Captain Marvel and Black Panther. Both films are currently set for release in 2018, with Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa actually making his MCU bow in next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

It’s believed that Marvel Studios is currently looking for an African-American to helm Black Panther and a female to direct Captain Marvel. DuVernay obviously ticks both of those particular boxes.

At present, Black Panther is set for a July 6th, 2018 release, with Captain Marvel pencilled in for November 2nd, 2018.

Expect to hear more on this as it develops.
