Fans of Blake’s 7 who have yet to catch up The Early Years, or simply want to hear it again, should set standard by six for Radio 4 Extra at 6.30 pm on Thursday the 6th of December and for the next nine weekdays. The series kicks off with Eye of the Machine a story of Avon’s initial disenchantment with the establishment.

For those who don’t know, Blake’s 7: The Early Years was commissioned to show the back stories of the main characters. Overall there were eight stories released between 2008 and 2010 written by Simon Guerrier, Ben Aaronovitch (who wrote Eye of the Machine and others), Marc Platt and James Swallow. The stellar cast includes Michael Keating, Jan Chappell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tracy–Ann Oberman, Keeley Hawes and many more.
