The end of last week brought news that five names were being considered to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man. Now Latino Review is reporting on who is the new frontrunner to play everyone’s favourite Webhead.

It was believed that Asa Butterfield, Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Liam James and Nat Wolff were in consideration to play Peter Parker, but this latest story claims that Asa Butterfield is the favourite to land the gig. The young actor is likely best known to most for headlining Gavin Hood’s ENDER’S GAME.

As ever with this type of stuff, treat this as purely speculation until something concrete is announced, although Latino Review is usually right on the money with their scoops.

Whoever lands the Spidey gig will make their debut in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR on May 6th, 2016, before we then get a solo Spider-Man film on July 28th, 2017.

Expect more on this as it develops.
