Ahead of Arrow’s sixth season premiering next month, the Stephen Amell-starrer has brought in a new addition in the form of Liam Hall.

As per EW, the Camp and Lucifer actor has landed the role of Joe Wilson, the son of none other than the totally badass Slade Wilson. Slade, as played by genre fave Manu Bennett, is better known, of course, as Deathstroke. The official description for Joe has him pegged as somebody “who joined the secret Australian military agency A.S.I.S. He’s now on a remote Kasnian prison under the name Kane Wolfman and reportedly fighting for his life.”

Given how the Oliver Queen flashbacks of the show have now come full circle to the point where we’ve seen how Amell’s Ollie got to exactly the point where we first saw him when the show debuted back in 2012, it was announced earlier this year by Marc Guggenheim that Season 6 would look back at the stories of other characters. One such character, you guessed it, is Slade Wilson. And if you remember back, the Season 5 finale saw Oliver promise to give Slade information on Joe; his young son who was mentioned at times in the show’s first two seasons, and who is also featured in the fabulous Arrow: Vengeance novel.

In Arrow-verse lore, we’ve already seen another of Slade’s sons when Grant Wilson turned up as Deathstroke during a DC’s Legends of Tomorrow outing to the future Star City. What role, if any, Liam Hall’s Joe Wilson has going forward will be interesting to see, but for now all we know is that he will be a part of a two-part affair that looks at Slade’s past and present. Oh, and that Kane Wolfman alias? Yeah, that’s totally a nice nod to Deathstroke creator Marv Wolfman.

Arrow returns to US screens on October 12th, with a UK return to follow shortly after.
