With Shane Black’s The Predator now in production, there’s still those hoping for an appearance from Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film. Well, according to star Boyd Holbrook, that looks like it’s not going to happen.

Previously, it had been revealed that Das Arnold had met with Black for “lunch” to discuss the possibility of his Dutch character returning for at least a cameo of sorts. According to Holbrook, though, that wouldn’t be a wise move.

Speaking to We Got This Covered, Holbrook said, “I’m currently working on Predator, it’s not a sequel. Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.”

Joining Holbrook on the film are Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, Jacob Tremblay, and Sterling K. Brown. The film was previously said to be set in the same continuity as the first two Predator movies, although Holbrook’s comments on the movie being “not a sequel” throw some questions up about that.

At present, The Predator is currently set for a February 9th, 2018 release.
