Playing two heroes within the same shared cinematic universe? Yep, that certainly sounds like a tricky order to us, but that’s not deterring Anthony Mackie, who has now said how he’d love to play Blade.

Mackie, of course, has been seen over the last few years as Sam Wilson/The Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now he has his sights on the Daywalker.

Speaking at Wizard World (as per Screen Geek), Mackie enthused, “I pretty much want to grow up to be Wesley Snipes. If we can bring back Blade, I’d definitely be Blade in every Blade movie.”

The actor is likely just joking around with fans, but still… there has been various discussion at Marvel over bringing Blade back into action somehow, somewhere. The cinematic rights for the character have now reverted back to Marvel, and thus there have been talks of bringing Blade into the MCU, of possibly bringing Wesley Snipes back as the much-loved vampire hunter, of maybe recasting the role and rebooting the character, or potentially looking to incorporate Blade into the small-screen Marvel world, possibly joining the likes of Daredevil and Luke Cage over on Netflix.

The last time we saw Blade on the big screen was back in 2004’s Blade: Trinity, and since then there has been a brief 2006 live-action TV series and a 2011 animated series.

As ever with Blade, if anything further develops, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
