With Ant-Man and the Wasp currently putting together its cast ahead of starting production later this month, Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man sequel has now added two more big names to its ranks.

As confirmed by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con, Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne have been brought in for the Ant-Man follow-up. Pfeiffer, of course, is no stranger to superhero shenanigans, having famously played Catwoman in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, while Fishburne is fondly thought of by many a genre fan for his turn as Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy, not to mention his appearances as Perry White in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In terms of their roles, both are playing some major Marvel players. Firstly, Pfeiffer is playing none other than Janet Van Dyne, aka the original Wasp; a character briefly seen in flashbacks in Ant-Man, and someone whose heroic moniker has now been passed on to Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne. As for Fishburne, he’s playing Bill Foster, the comic book character who works with both Hank Pym and Tony Stark, and who is also better known as the size-shifting hero Goliath.

Already on board for Ant-Man and the Wasp are Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, David Dastmalchian, T.I., Randall Park, Hannah John-Kamen, and Walton Goggins. At present, the sequel is booked in for a July 6th, 2018 release. Before that, of course, both Rudd’s Scott Lang and Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne will be present when Avengers: Infinity War hits the silver screen next May.
