Ready for another Amityville movie? No, us neither. Well tough, for we’re getting one anyway.

Whilst Blumhouse and Dimension Films currently have Amityville: The Awakening set for this June – although that picture may well experience further delays if recent rumblings are to be believed – it’s now been announced that CineTel Films is heading over to Cannes with a whole new Amityville effort that they’re looking to find financing for.

Titled The Haunting on Long Island: The Amityville Murders, the current synopsis on the film reads:

On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that “voices” in the house commanded him to kill. Thirteen months later, the Lutz family brought the house and stayed only 28 days before fleeing in terror. Their nightmarish ordeal shocked the world in The Amityville Horror. The Lutzes may have escaped from Amityville with their lives… but the DeFeo’s weren’t so lucky. This is their story.

Now while we’re already not exactly keen on yet another Amityville movie, regardless of the concept, it also makes us a tad more concerned that CineTel is the company behind the awful I Spit on Your Grave and its even worse pair of sequels.

As for Amityville, this latest feature film concerning the topic would mark the twentieth movie (at least by our count) based around this most infamous of houses.

Expect more on this as it develops.
