With Universal currently working on developing their shared universe of monster movies, it’s believed that Angelina Jolie is being looked at to star in a new take on The Bride of Frankenstein.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, claiming that part of the reason the studio put out the Jolie starring-and-helmed By the Sea was so that they could win favour with her in order to get her on board to headline a new Bride of Frankenstein.

A remake of the 1935 movie has been around since about 2009, but it’s only in the last year or so that things have really stepped up on the project. What’s interesting here, though, is that there’s no solid word on whether this Bride of Frankenstein is definitely to be a part of the shared universe of Universal monster movies that are currently in development. Given that the film will be being developed by Universal, it would seem mighty silly of them to exclude the Bride redo from their shared cinematic monster realm.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
