Andy Serkis is currently ploughing through pre-production for his directorial debut JUNGLE BOOK: ORIGINS, a supposed darker adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved tale. News arrives today that casting is under way and that world-beaters such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett are to lend their vocal artistry to the project.

To be released on October 21st 2016, ORIGINS will follow Jon Favreau’s film of a similar vein over a year later (which also boasts an colossally-gifted cast). Serkis has additionally gathered Naomie Harris, Eddie Marsan, Peter Mullan, Rohan Chand and Tom Hollander for his piece, who will offer quality support to Bale’s Bagheera, Cumberbatch’s Shere Khan and Blanchett’s Kaa.

There seems to be a particular rumble in the jungle surfacing, which includes David Yates’ version of TARZAN, but it appears as though Serkis is more than equipped to challenge his vine-swinging competitors. After all, he OWNS the fucking jungle.
