Another week, another remake…

As first reported by That Hashtag Show, Andy Muschietti is to tackle a remake of The Howling for Netflix. The IT director revealed the news during a recent press screening on Underwater.

This isn’t completely out of left-field, for last year’s San Diego Comic-Con saw Muschietti reveal that if he could remake one classic horror movie then it would be The Howling.

Joe Dante’s 1981 The Howling was loosely based on Gary Brandner’s 1977 novel. Reportedly, Andy Muschietti’s take on the film will pull more from that source material than Dante’s movie did.

In that 1977 read, the main character of Karyn Beatty heads to a small mountain town as she looks to recover from a nervous breakdown. It’s there that things take a turn for the sinister, as the residents of this town aren’t quite as they seem.

Expect more on this new take on The Howling as it continues to develop.
