In terms of making something out of nothing, Sylvester Stallone’s little boxer movie did quite the job. As well as creating 1976’s iconic ROCKY, Stallone would go on to reprise his Rocky Balboa role in a further five sequels. Over the last year or so, it was revealed that Rocky would return in a spin-off of sorts. Dubbed CREED, the film will star CHORONICLE’s Michael B. Jordan as Apollo Creed’s grandson, a young boxer who is mentored by Rocky. After having been quiet for a fair few months, some new news has finally surfaced on the film.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that CREED will start shooting in January in Las Vegas and Philadelphia, with two real-life boxers having joined the film. WBA Super-Middleweight Champion Andre Ward will be appearing the film, and Britain’s own Tony Bellew will be playing the main opponent, “Pretty” Ricky Porter, for Jordan’s Creed. Scouser Bellew is a former 3-time ABA Heavyweight Champion and is due to square off against long-time rival Nathan Cleverly on November 22nd.

CREED will be directed by FRUITVALE STATION’s Ryan Coogler.
