With the sixth season, My Roanoke Nightmare, currently airing, it’s now been confirmed that American Horror Story will be back for a Season 7 next year.

FX has confirmed the news, although, as was the case with Roanoke right up until just before its premiere, it’s currently a mystery just what the focus of this next season will be on. As ever, co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will be back to oversee proceedings.

A spokesperson for FX said, “Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining and we are honoured to move ahead with them on the seventh installment. The sustained success through six installments only proves hos intensely the series resonates with fans. AHS confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. We thank the creators and their team, the cast and everyone who has continued to make AHS such an extraordinary series.”

To give a little insight into just how important the show is to the FX network, currently 12 of the top 15 most-watched telecasts in the history of the network are American Horror Story episodes.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops. In the meantime, you can check out new episodes of American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare every Wednesday evening in the US, and every Friday on FOX in the UK.
