GHOSTBUSTERS has flitted in and out of the spotlight over the last few months, whether that’s celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, or mourning the passing of co-writer and star Harold Ramis. The future of the third instalment understandably and unexpectedly changed since Ramis’ passing, but it’s safe to say that the ‘busters are still beloved. The spotlight is shining bright again.

Variety has reported that Paul Feig (director behind THE HEAT and BRIDESMAIDS, as well as creator of TV show FREAKS AND GEEKS) is in talks with Sony to produce a GHOSTBUSTERS reboot with an all-female leading cast. There have reportedly been conversations between the company and Feig, though no official negotiations have been confirmed at this stage.

Subverting genders in popular franchises is nothing new, and if Captain Kirk can be feminised, anything’s possible. So, is this progressive or just money making?
