With Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment still licking their Batman v Superman-inflicted wounds, they are no doubt hoping that the forthcoming Suicide Squad goes the distance. With the reaction to the latest trailer being largely positive, the WB and DC must be feeling somewhat confident as they have announced that they’re developing a standalone movie which will feature fan favourite Harley Quinn.

A lot of attention has been focused on Margot Robbie’s portrayal of The Jokers paramour since production began on David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and if this was a deliberate marketing ploy then it seems to have paid off as the standalone movie is set to feature an all-star cast of female DC heroes and villains such as Batgirl and the Birds of Prey.

Not only will Robbie be reprising her role as Harley Quinn, but she will also be serving as producer for the project. There are no plot details as of yet but this news will certainly generate a huge amount of interest and speculation.

As well as Robbie appearing in Suicide Squad this August, she can also be seen as Jane alongside Alexander Skarsgard’s Tarzan in the Legend of Tarzan this July.
