Remember that long-mooted third Bill & Ted movie? Well it’s apparently still ‘a thing’, and Alex Winter, better known as Bill S. Preston Esquire, has given an update on where things are at right now.

Speaking to Forbes, Winter said, “It’s looking good. This is Hollywood, so I don’t believe it’s happening until it’s coming out on VOD, but we’re all working on the film every day at the moment in terms of pre-prep type work, so it’s an active project.”

Despite the project being an active one, some still throw up questions as to whether Keanu Reeves will be returning for the film, which is something that Winter laughed at. “How the fuck would we make it if he wasn’t on board?” he said. “People are always asking if Keanu’s doing it, and I’m like, ‘No, I’m making a Bill movie.’ Of course he’s in it. I can’t make a Bill & Ted movie without Keanu.”

Confirming that any third movie will follow the same vibe of the first two films, he added, “We’ve been working on it for, like, six years. We’re knee-deep in the script, it’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two. They are fantastic writers and the script is great. We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio – we’re just trying to nail down a start date.”

So, all sounds most excellent for longtime Bill & Ted fans then, and it could be time to party on before you know it. In the meantime, be excellent to each other.
