In some rather cool news, Adam West and Burt Ward are returning once more as Batman and Robin. Given the fondness for the original 1960s BATMAN TV show and the success of the recent BATMAN ’66 comic books, this time out the West and Ward versions of the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder will appear in the form of an animated film.

This news came out at last weekend’s Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, North Carolina (as reported by /Film), where Ward confirmed, “You can look forward to a new animated BATMAN, full-length 90-minute feature, coming out on the 50th anniversary. One of possibly two, but for sure one, that Adam and I are doing the voices for.”

The original TV series itself ran for 120 episodes from 1966 to 1968 and has been regularly shown in the years since. There would also be the West and Ward-voiced 16-part THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN cartoon series in 1977.

All we know for now is to expect this new animated adventure to arrive next year, and keep your eyes on STARBURST to hear more on this as it becomes available.
